Bookmark or Sticker Design with AI

Bookmark or Sticker Design with AI

A couple of weeks ago, I made a design for a magnetic bookmark with Midjourney AI. In my opinion, it turned out quite nice.

However, image generation is not always easy. Recently, I’ve been trying to generate some decent images of bananas with Midjourney. It seems that it hasn’t entirely captured the essentials of what makes a banana.

Today, I’m trying out three different image generation AIs to create a design that could be used on a small magnetic bookmark, as above, or a sticker. My design idea is simply a cute teddy bear reading a book. The initial prompt is “cute teddy bear reading a book, pastel colors, round sticker design.”

MIDJOURNEY

Midjourney is a generative AI tool that generates images from text prompts. It is used via Discord. Unfortunately, there is no free subscription to the service. The monthly subscription fee starts at $10.

Let’s create our images:

Here’s our first result:

Not bad; I like the one in the bottom right corner. Let’s generate more images:

I like the third image in the third set (bottom row, second from the right). Let’s upscale this image by pressing “U3.”

Let’s create some variations for fun by pressing “Vary (Subtle).” After a few tries, I got this result:

DALL·E 3

DALL·E 3 is another text-to-image generator. You can try it via ChatGPT if you have a Plus subscription (the price starts at $20). I haven’t used the image generation feature a lot. I’ve only created my site logo with it.

So, let’s try it!

It’s a nice, clear, simple design. Let’s create some more!

Let’s modify the prompt to see if we can create something more similar to what Midjourney created. DALL·E generated these when I added the word “watercolor” to the prompt:

In the end, I used this prompt: “create four designs with the prompt “happy, cute teddy bear reading a book, pastel colors, lots of details, watercolor, round sticker design for adults”.”

I couldn’t create exactly what I wanted. I think I’ll need to learn more about DALL·E 3. But generally speaking, I’m happy with the clear images it produced. I chose the second from the left to continue with.

GEMINI

Lastly, I tried the Google Gemini chatbot, which supports image generation in some geographical areas. I haven’t used it before. It’s free to use.

Here are the first results:

And after using the same prompt as in DALL·E:

I like the one on the top right corner, so I downloaded it.

Coming Soon

The next step in the process is to actually create a magnetic bookmark or sticker. I’ll be using Cricut Maker 3’s print-then-cut feature to do that. See you soon!
